End of the Journey: Lima, Peru - My Final Stop in South America
Closing out 6 months of writing with a final stop in Peru’s capital.
Can’t believe this is the last post of my South America journey 🫨 My 3-week trip is turned into 20 blog posts lasting 6 months. What a journey! I guess this could be counted as a yearly achievement especially there are only 36 days left in 2025 while I am writing!
After Cusco, we headed to Peru’s capital - Lima, mainly for flight reason. If you search online, you would find that there aren’t many recommendations in Lima. And honestly, when I was there, I didn’t find things particularly attractive. The city is relatively new with many modern buildings. Even though I stayed close to the historical center, where Basílica Catedral de Lima is located, I didn’t have strong feeling of walking in a historical area. Probably because the area is relatively small.

I realize I don’t have many photos in Lima. So I’m showcasing this - me showcasing the Alpaca sweater I bought in Cusco lol
But I do have a recommendation in Lima - Hotel Dimond! There are 4 reasons why I recommend it:
The staff is very responsive
The free breakfast is nice
The location is good - just 6 min walk to Basílica Catedral de Lima
The facility, especially the bathroom is very comfortable!
3 hours before taking our flight to Lima, I was suddenly aware that we would landed late at 11:45 PM and was worried about not being able to check in smoothly. I then contacted them via WhatsApp, hoping to sort this out quick. As soon as I contacted them, I got their reply, saying their reception opens 24 hours. Thanks to their quick response, my concern is wiped out immediately!

As for the bathroom, it’s modern and spacious, which I really liked. The toilet and shower are separated, and the sink is wide that you don’t have to worry about splashing water everywhere. I was especially satisfied with it probably because by the time we stayed at Hotel Diamond, we had already stayed in several hotels with tiny sinks.
About the location, since Lima isn’t particularly attractive in my opinion, being within walking distance of the historical center is definitely an advantage. Otherwise, would you really want to spend a long time commuting just to see things that are not particularly special? Location is definitely one of the strengths of Hotel Dimond.
Stay tuned! Soon I will start to share my most recent trip - Turkey!
